Trapped in the Media Machine

I have a place in the media machine, yet it is uncertain where exactly I fit in. It seems that a passive consumer role is automatically given to me whether I like it or not. Often times, although I feel attached to this massive and often dangerous cultural mass of information, I find myself trying to escape it's grasp. Being constantly exposed to clever advertisements, ads, and commercials unwillingly, I feel overwhelmed and eventually numb from the sheer intensity and quantity of it all.
My piece illustrates my frustration and mercy towards the machine to which I am bound. Behind the machine is a faded interior symbolizing the way that the media creates an alternate reality for the consumer and causes them to somewhat abandon the real world which seems bleak in comparison to the bright and flashy one they have produced. I am the most colorful part of the illustration because slowly the advertisement world consumes me and in a way makes me a part of it.
